PP-R CT FV Plast: Why they last 50+ years
Choosing piping is not a simple matter. Find out why PP-RCT of FV Plast, with its special crystalline structure and premium raw material, offers up to 37% higher flow and durability exceeding 50 years, leaving conventional materials behind.
What makes a pipe really stand the test of time?;
In the field of plumbing and heating, it is the “invisible” quality that determines the success of a construction. Many people think that all plastic pipes are the same. This is a myth that often costs dearly in future leaks and damage.
At Alphatech, our choice is conscious and non-negotiable: we use exclusively the piping system FV Plast. Why? The answer lies in technology PP-R CT and the purity of the raw material.
The PP-RCT Revolution: it's not just plastic
While most competitors use the classic PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer), FV Plast has moved on to the next generation: the PP-R CT (Polypropylene Random Copolymer with modified Crystallinity and Temperature resistance).
What does this mean in practice for your installation?;
- Improved Crystal Structure: Through a special «beta-nucleation» process, the material acquires a much more compact and durable structure.
- Thinner Walls, Greater Flow: Due to the increased strength of the material, FV Plast pipes can have thinner walls while maintaining the same or even higher pressure resistance (up to 10bar of continuous pressure). This leads to up to 37% larger internal cross-section and water flow compared to conventional PPR PN20 pipes.
- Less weight: The system is lighter, making work easier and reducing the load on the building.
Raw Material: The importance of primary material
The biggest difference, which is rarely mentioned by manufacturers of very low-cost materials, is the origin of the plastic.
- Primary Material: FV Plast supplies raw materials strictly from leading European producers. It does not use recycled additives or “fillers” that reduce the cost but destroy the molecular cohesion of the tube.
- Security: The use of pure, certified polypropylene ensures that the water you drink does not come into contact with unknown chemicals, while the smooth inner surface prevents the formation of salts and bacteria, significantly increasing the efficiency of closed heating systems.
Temperature and Pressure Resistance: the 50 Year Test
Classic PPR starts to lose its strength abruptly when the water temperature exceeds 70°C. In contrast, the PP-R CT of FV Plast behaves linearly.
- Stability: It maintains its resistance to high pressures even at the highest temperatures (90°C at 8bar and 80°C at 10bar).
- Longevity: The aging curves of the material demonstrate a guaranteed service life that exceeds the 50 years Operation.

PP-RCT (Polypropylene Random Copolymer with modified Crystallinity and Temperature resistance) pipes are the next generation of hydraulic pipes. Unlike common PPR, PP-RCT is produced through a special beta-curing process that gives it an improved crystalline structure. The result: thinner walls, larger internal cross-section and higher temperature and pressure resistance.
Due to the thinner wall, a PP-RCT pipe has up to 37% larger internal cross-section than the corresponding common PPR PN20 pipe of the same external diameter. This means better water supply, lower pressure losses and more efficient heating and water supply systems.
FV Plast PP-RCT pipes maintain their full strength at temperatures up to 90°C at 8bar and up to 80°C at 10bar of continuous pressure. In contrast, ordinary PPR starts to lose its strength significantly when the temperature exceeds 70°C, making PP-RCT the ideal choice for central heating systems.
According to FV Plast's material aging curves, PP-RCT pipes have a guaranteed lifetime of more than 50 years under normal operating conditions. This makes them a long-term investment for any private or commercial installation.
Yes. FV Plast uses only certified virgin material from European suppliers, without recycled additives or fillers. The smooth inner surface of the pipes prevents the formation of salts and bacteria, ensuring healthy and safe drinking water.
